Listed below is a roll of the Knights of the Royal Oak. Each Knight’s entry includes the area they live in, their hobbies/interests and their Inspirational Statement. We have intentionally not included Knight’s occupations as being a Knight is about the person, they are not the job they undertake. You may also notice that many of the Knights are titled. They are all approachable, so please get to know them and we are sure you will find the friendship both enjoyable and rewarding.
Membership is restricted to 687 Knights. When the roll is full, we will create a waiting list on a, first come, first served basis. The “Inspirational Statement” of each Knight and their hobbies/interests are attached to their listing. Knights may use this to build friendships with other Knights from across the world.
If you wish to find a specific Knight, please use the search facility.

"Per aspera as astra" - "Per aspera ad astra or Per aspera sic itur ad astra is a Latin phrase, often used as a motto or incitement, which literally means: "through the asperities to the stars". It is a relatively recent sentence in this form, although similar sentences can be found in the classics: Virgil (Aeneid IX, 641); Lucio Anneo Seneca, who wrote in the work Hercules furens: "non est ad astra mollis e terris via" ('there is no simple way from the earth to the stars')

I've been married for 25 years to an Army officer who retired last year about 38 years of service. Six months ago I fell and broke both of my arms. My husband was still doing retirement things and I was alone in a new, empty house for a week, no groceries, no help. I cried every night but I made it. I'm a survivor. Now I am representing Alabama in a senior women's pageant. As for family history, I am a big believer that we need to learn about our ancestors and pass that knowledge to others. Solving the mystery of one of my ancestors and finding a long, interesting history something I am excited about. At least one Royalist was an ancestor, with a long family tree in Herefordshire, while others went to London and apprenticed and joined guilds, and a few came to the Virginia Colony during the 17th century, eventually resulting in me!
Genealogy, cats, traveling, swimming, boating, Royal/British history, American Civil War, midcentury architecture, tea rooms, lighthouses.

This is the goal: to know, to accept, to forgive, to balance, and to open the self. This cannot be done without the forgetting, for it otherwise would carry no weight in the life of the mind, body, spirit, or soul. Lux et Veritas

I am a retired accountant and have been a Freemason for 41 years. As Hon Treasurer to two Lodges I have a commitment to serving the charitable aims and objectives of this organisation and provide financial guidance and advice to the brethren in their consideration of worthy causes.
After 12 years I was invited to become Chairman of a local residents group based in east London where I have lived for nearly 50 years. With their support I changed our legal structure to a registered charity focused on improving our locality, initially by raising funds to build a new Community Centre for the use of local community groups. With the support of my three fellow Trustees we raised the necessary funds to lease and fit out a new 'shell' premises which was opened in 2013 by our local Mayo. We charge local groups a nominal rental to cover the overheads, without any cost to our local authority. The management of this facility takes up a considerable amount of my (and my wife's) time, as we have no paid employees and where necessary utilise two willing local volunteers. Alas, two of my fellow Trustees have passed in the last four years so the onus is on me to maintain this necessary service.
My original purpose in acquiring my two manorial titles was to provide our two children and their spouses with an unusual and exceptional legacy which links to the paternal side of my family - my grandfather and grandmother were born in the (current) county of Cumbria - one in Barrow-in-Furness and the other in Cartmel. Upper and Lower Stannerleys were adjoining areas in the 14th century not far from both and, should time and circumstance permit, I intend to research more of their history. I have a current attachment to Cumbria through an adopted disabled niece, whom I visit regularly.
As our society and environment change, at an ever-increasing speed, we should not sit on our achievements.
We must strive to be good neighbours and honourable citizens, giving without detriment to others or connections.
It is thus that we will earn that most precious of all achievements from our fellow man.
Live respected and die without regret.

As human beings it is in our nature to be afraid from birth and have primal fears; of being alone and the fear of failure most obviously. It is fear that limits life's possibilities both professionally and personally. My parents taught me at a very young age to embrace life's failures, have a strong work ethic, learn lessons from knock backs and continue with a positive attitude in order to overcome any tasks life throws at you. I always took the mindset that as i have little there is really nothing to lose in having a go, try new experiences and ultimately anything is possible if you don’t quit. This mindset has helped me become the first in my family with an honours degree in business, have growing success in international business and become Lord Ravensden. I aim to be a further example to my family with age and give back to society where and when possible.

I have had a very full and very varied life. My career started in the field of psychiatry and then, as a complete change, in catering. Moving to Kent I was very fortunate to become the Town Seargent of Dover which involved maintaining the town's Civic Regalia, the Ceremonial Oar of the Lord Warden of the Cinque Ports and officiating at the civic ceremonies. After retiring I took on the challenge of refurbishing some derelict properties whilst also continuing to assist friends by being their company secretary for some seafront buildings which were going under refurbishment. I am very pleased to look back on many satisfying years and can now concentrate on my local social scene. I maintain a gathering for St Georges Day, for Trafalgar Day and our town's Charter Day.

My professional life has been dedicated predominantly toward the holistic concerns of my fellow man. This contribution has been exacted in the form of military, public and private vocational service.

I have been through many setbacks and adversities in my lifetime. These helped mould me into the positive, resilient, unbreakable person I am today.
I spent many years leaving life to happen to me, until I began studying mindset and then I made the decision to take the reins of my own life and decide what happens in my life.
I have since become an international fully accredited mindset coach, I have studied psychology, mental health and hypnosis to help others take control of their lives.
My mission is life is to help as many people realise that we are only ever dealing with a thought and a thought can be changed. By changing the way we think we then become the creators of our own lives.
Helping others understand that we are only ever dealing with a thought and a thought can always be changed. My passion is mindset, neurolinguistic programming, personal development and continuous growth.
